Brothers in Arms: A gritty, action-packed mystery thriller (Andrew Sterling Book 5)
Overview
Twelve years ago, two young SAS soldiers, Andrew Sterling and Frank Malone, are sent on a covert mission to locate an opium compound in the remote mountains of northern Afghanistan. The mission quickly unravels, and Malone is killed. Sterling escapes, but the memories and the guilt never leave him.
In present-day Syria, a group of Russian mercenaries are brought to a Damascus military hospital with horrific injuries caused by a terrifying and previously unknown chemical agent.
Sterling, now part of an SAS unit combatting threats from weapons of mass destruction, is sent covertly into Syria to investigate. It soon becomes clear that a cache of the new weapon has gone missing from a Russian storage facility, and that a Syrian Army Major, an ex-mercenary from the infamous Wagner Group and a brutal Afghan warlord are involved.
When he comes across a grainy photo of the warlord wearing Malone’s talisman, Sterling is forced to contemplate the unthinkable. Is the man in the photo the same person who killed his teammate all those years ago? Or could Frank have survived, and might he still be alive and held captive by the ruthless warlord?
Sterling sets out to track down the chemical weapons before they become part of a devastating terrorist attack, and to uncover what really happened to his friend. Along the way, he must grapple with hardened Russian mercenaries, the corrupt Syrian military, Pakistan’s shadowy ISI, and ultimately the warlord himself.
