Thomas Edward Lawrence was born in Wales in 1888 and died in England in May 1935, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash. Oxonian, archaeologist, intelligence officer, writer, and soldier, he became famous for his military exploits in Arabia during World War I, detailed in his books Seven Pillars of Wisdom and Revolt in the Desert.
