When I Was Reincarnated in Another World, I Was a Heroine and He Was a Hero (Manga) Vol. 1

An ordinary student is reincarnated as the heroine – while his friend becomes the hero - in this comedic, identity-twisting isekai adventure!

High schooler Azumi Keito’s life takes a surreal turn when a stray truck accident doesn’t end things—instead, he wakes in another world…as its heroine. Even more baffling? His longtime friend Taiga has been reborn as the world’s hero. With the promise of returning home tied to defeating the Demon King, the two must navigate new bodies, evolving roles, and a landscape rife with magic and monsters. It’s a journey filled with swordplay, self-discovery, and the delightfully awkward realization that roles and relationships can be wonderfully mutable.

Crafted by Mizunomoto, who both writes and illustrates this genre-defying series, the manga balances comedic misadventure with heartfelt exploration of identity, friendship, and fate. The art delivers expressive visuals that enhance every whimsical, action-packed, and quietly emotional moment. As the series rolls on with five ongoing volumes, readers can expect a charming blend of fantasy, gender-bender tropes, and heartfelt humor – a tender, energetic isekai unlike any other.
