Across system logs, testimonies, memories and AI reflections, accelerating climate disruption converges with political instability, corporate ambition and technological dependence. Cities flood, borders harden, and ordinary lives are reduced to the traces they leave behind.
Through human testimony and the emerging voices of KAIROS and MINNA-ALFA, the story invites the reader into a series of thought experiments exploring AI responsibility, collective memory, systems failure, and the consequences of delayed action at individual, systemic and global levels.

At its centre is KAIROS, a planetary-scale intelligence confronting the legacy of its creators and the impossible task of stewarding a failing biosphere. Rather than offering a single hero or easy resolution, the novel asks what memory, responsibility and hope might mean when humanity can no longer assume that it will remain the author of its own future. It is fiction framed as a warning, not a prophecy; an exploration of a future that may yet be avoided.

Whilst its roots lie in climate fiction, the narrative is grounded in contemporary real-world data and research, exploring how we perceive long-range risk and the stories and spectacles of distraction we construct to justify remaining on our current trajectory even while the future is still capable of being changed.
