Sabrina Tells Maddie the Truth About Her Past

Two girls vanished. One phone kept recording.

Madeline Ionescu, the 19-year-old star of Netflix’s The Book of Eibon, disappeared on January 10. So did Sabrina Bogdan, 17, her secret girlfriend and a Berkeley freshman. All the police found was a wrecked Fiat, a burned-out house nobody can seem to find twice, and a phone that recorded one impossible conversation.

Now it’s been transcribed, and it’s the only account of what happened.

Hunkered down in the ruins of Abigail Ronan’s house, protected by a half-finished spell and a row of clay mastiffs, Sabrina finally keeps her promise to tell Maddie everything: the basement she escaped, the school that took her in, and the girl who was murdered on a bridge. Outside, shadows scrape at the walls. On Maddie’s tablet, the news gets stranger by the minute: colored rain, impossible hailstones, a rippling sky. Sabrina knows why. She’s been hiding the truth about it all along.

Sabrina Tells Maddie the Truth About Her Past is a claustrophobic, dialogue-driven tale of horror that mixes found-footage dread, occult folklore, and cosmic catastrophe. It’s perfect for fans of creepy transcripts, Romanian myth, and endings that leave the world a little less safe.
