Christopher Spanner retreats from London's gloom to a rural French hamlet, hoping to clear his melancholy with the fresh air and change of scenery.

When he journeys to a nearby meadow, he encounters Lily, a woman who seems as much a part of the meadow as the flowers. The more time they spend together, the more Christopher wonders who--or what--she truly is.
