Splintered Sky (Stormborn Book 1)

For generations, the Cloud Kingdom and Shadow City were haunted by beasts said to bend sunlight and shadow. Now, only one remains: a teenage survivor named Double.
Caught between xenophobic kingdoms that would destroy him if they uncovered the truth, Double lives two lives. By day, he hides among Cloud Kingdom citizens. By night, he works alongside gangsters in Shadow City. Together with an orphaned swordstress and a sharp-tempered young mercenary, Double walks the tightrope of balancing his two lives and his volatile magic—until a new threat uproots everything they've built.
A royal captain manages to uncover hints of Double's secret, sparking a deadly pursuit across the cloud realms. As Double's magic weakens and his disguises slip, heirs to the throne of the Cloud Kingdom fall to mysterious attacks and ancient fear takes root again in the crowded streets. The realms inch toward a second genocidal war—and Double becomes the perfect scapegoat.
But in a world where loyalties fracture as easily as the skies themselves, Double begins to suspect the he and the captain may not be enemies at all, but pawns in a queen's ruthless plan to seize her husband's crown. If Double can't uncover the truth before his magic fails, the skies themselves may splinter beyond repair.
"Splintered Sky" is a YA fantasy of storm-forged bonds, fractured identities, political intrigue, and the thin line between monster and hero—all set against a world built among the clouds.
