Born of Kings: King Odin

The man who became a god.

Born in the worst storm in living memory, with an enemy war-band coming up the river, the chieftain's second son is named for the fury. Odin.

The seeress promises he will outlast them all. She also names the price. An eye. A brother. A son. A cold grey shore at the end of everything.

He pays. He gives an eye at the well and receives sight so total it leaves him alone in every room he enters. He buys a kingdom with his brother's life. He raises a spy-web, a faith, a written word, a wall founded on a murdered man. He is feared by thousands and loved by one woman who cannot be managed.

And when the last bill comes due, when the bright son is dead and the north has turned to ice, the cleverest man alive does the only honest thing he has ever done. He builds a god to hide inside, and sends one overlooked son south with the blood.

Sixty generations later, a granddaughter of that blood reaches back and gives the man his name.

Born of Kings: King Odin is Book 1 of the Born of Kings series.
