Between Us

I wanted her the first moment I saw her. I was only eight, but my heart’s been set on her ever since.
I don’t know what to call my fixation on her, I don’t know if it’s just lust. I don’t know if it’s pure infatuation, or even love. But whatever it is, it’s strong.
It’s unconditional…it’s unrefined…but it’s unrequited…
It’s unlawful.
And still, no one could convince me that she isn’t the one.
She is the one. She’s the only one.
I wanted Aubree. I had to have her, but I had to wait.
There's always been a wedge between us. A thick line that's never meant to be crossed. But sometime after my eighteenth birthday I took the first step over it.
Nothing between us now—except for the guilt over seducing my best friend's mom.
