Message in the Box (Messages of Murder #5)

Five books in and Dawn Merriman finds a way to make Gabby McAllister's story even more compelling than ever — by threatening to take away the one thing that makes her who she is.
Message in the Box asks a question that will keep you turning pages at a genuinely alarming speed: what happens to a psychic investigator when her psychic abilities start to fail her?
The answer is one of the most emotionally rich and tension-filled entries in the entire series. Gabby at full power is extraordinary. Gabby uncertain, frightened, and pushing through confusion and doubt to solve a case anyway — that is something else entirely. That is the kind of character moment that makes readers genuinely emotional.
The haunted museum setting is atmospheric and deliciously creepy in exactly the way fans of this series have come to expect. The personal stakes raised by the second victim will hit hard. And the internal journey Gabby goes on in this book deepens her character in ways that pay off beautifully in the books that follow.
